Good afternoon,
I am fairly new to CTC and brand new to the triathlon scene. I have a quick question, I am looking into purchasing my first road bike and (A) Should I buy new or used? (B) Where are good shops to check out bikes (I just recently moved to Chicago so not to sure on the shops)? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!

It's worth getting a bike fit then decide on a bike. All of the places do bike fits. I suggest checking them all out and decide which is best for you. If you are going to go the used bike route I suggest getting a bike for so you know if the used bike is the right size and then get a bike adjusted as needed.
