Q&A with Pro Triathlete Amanda Macuiba, discussion led be Callie Miller
Amanda Macuiba has been racing since 2013, starting with college cross country and track, where she went to nationals in the 3k Steeplechase. After graduating college, she coached cross country and track at DePaul University while getting her Master’s degree, and began racing marathons. She was instantly hooked, and was able to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Trials. After the Trials, she decided to try triathlon. In 2022, she did her first 70.3 and first Ironman. She has been to the Ironman World Championships in Kona and in Nice, and then had her first professional triathlon year in 2025. She has had 2 top 10 finishes in the pro field, and plans to continue that track and improve further in 2026. While racing pro, she still has her 9-5 corporate job working as a compensation manager. Balancing work and racing is her specialty. She also coaches classes at Vision Quest Cycling, and has a few clients she coaches in triathlon. She is passionate about expanding access to the sport, and helping people achieve their goals! Marathons: 12 70.3’s: 7 Ironman’s: 7 Instagram handle: @macooba
