Here is a notice about an upcoming study at GSSI.  All participants get their personal data (VO2, sweat loss, etc.), as indicated.  Contact Kelly if you have questions or are interested in participating.

The Gatorade Sports Science Institute is conducting a study involving 15-45 year old male and female moderately-trained athletes.

Participation in the study requires 2 visits to our lab in Barrington. The first visit will last approximately 90 minutes and will include an orientation and medical screening tests.  These tests include height, weight, blood pressure, a finger-stick blood sample to determine fasting blood glucose, and a graded exercise test (including VO2max and EKG). Visit 2 will include approximately 2.25 hours of moderate-intensity, intermittent exercise in a warm laboratory (~85°F).  During exercise you will be allowed to drink fluid to rehydrate. Before exercise and at 35-min intervals during exercise we will measure your nude body mass (in privacy).  In addition, we will apply sweat patches (similar to Band-Aids) to your forearms, upper chest, upper back, and forehead to collect and measure small samples of sweat.  Visit 2 will take approximately 2.5 hours to complete. You will be compensated for your time participating in the study.

If you or someone you know may be interested in taking part in this study, please contact us at your earliest convenience. The study will be conducted January through April 2016. We will schedule appointments on an individual basis according to the participant's availability.
