RAV stands for Racing and Volunteering
It's about Participation NOT Competition
- Points are earned by volunteering at races, club events (group workouts, race coordinators, committees, etc.)
- Points are earned by racing in CRS and other races - you earn the same number of points whether you come in first or last
- You must register at the "Who's racing / Who's volunteering" page on the website and wear a CTC article of clothing (or temporary tattoo)
- 10 RAV points earns you an end of the year prize (in the past it has been beach towels, water bottles, and long sleeve technical shirts)
- 15 RAV points earns you a spot in the end of the year raffle** (prizes ranged from water bottles to Zipp race wheels and other items generously donated by our sponsors)
- RAV points for 2012:
- CRS races 3 points, all other races 1 point
- Volunteering at Galena, South Shore and Chicago Kid's Tri/Supersprint 3points, volunteering at all other races 1 point
- IMWI Volunteer at Cross Plains (4 pts.) all other areas (2 pts.)
- Club chairperson or club officer 6 points
- Race or event coordinator 3 points
- Workout leader, happy hour greeter, geach watch at OSB 1/2 point (5 pt. Maximum)
** In order to be eligible for raffle prize, you must have at least 5 volunteer points
CRS stands for Chicago Racing Series
- CRS is all about competition, smack talking, fist pumping competition
- CRS is a series of local, well-run and popular races where CTC members compete against each other for points
- CRS races for 2013 are: Galena, Tri-Shark, Leon's, High Cliff, Pleasant Prairie, Racine 70.3, Door County, Steelhead 70.3, Chicago, and Lake Geneva.
- To be eligible for prizes, you must register at the "Who's racing / Who's volunteering" page on the website and wear a CTC article of clothing either during the race or afterwards and make yourself known to the CTC race co-ordinator on the day of the race
- You have to compete in at least two CRS races. Your two best results from any CRS races will be added together at the end of the season to give your final score.
- The top three overall and age group winners at the end of the year earn fancy trophies/prizes
- Races are scored as follows:
[Winning time/Your time] x 1000 + bonus points
Bonus points:
Overall 1st 20, 2nd 15, 3rd 12 points
Age group 1st 10, 2nd 5, 3rd 3 points
