Group Workouts

Summer 2017 Weekly Group Workouts

Almost every day of the week during the summer, CTC has a regular group workout.  Unless otherwise noted, the workouts are free, for CTC members only, and run from the beginning of June until the end of August.  Visit our Training Page to see the full list of workouts we host throughout the year, including more details about the weekly summer workouts.  Interested in leading a workout?  Add your name to the Workout Leaders Page to lead a Group RideMuffin Run, Stroke & Stride, or Volunteer for Gear Watch.  You may also lead an unofficial CTC group workout by posting on the Members-Only Forum and encouraging others to join you!

    Lake Shore Park Track Practice 6am May – October.
    Lake Shore Park Track practice is at Lake Shore Park (808 N Lake Shore Drive) on Tuesday mornings starting at 6 a.m.  Track Practice is open to all levels and is free if you bring your own workout.  Track workouts emphasize interval training, a key to success to improve your running speed, efficiency and form.

    If you’d like coaching, our sponsor Fast & Fit Coaching is offering a run coaching special in conjunction with this workout: You’ll get a customized weekly track workout along with instruction and feedback on how to improve your running form. These workouts coincide with the Tuesday morning practice sessions.  

    The cost for coaching is $160 for the full season (through the marathon into fall), 10 sessions for $125, or $15 for a single session. All new people are entitled to a free trial session, but everyone must RSVP to Michelle by registering for this event.

    Stroke & Stride 6pm June – August.

    1/2 mile or full mile swim followed by a 2 mile run held at Ohio Street Beach, weather permitting (see Message Boards for updates). 

    Check in with the timer by 6:15 and the event starts at 6:30pm.  There is no fee for this timed weekly scrimage; depending on volunteer interest, results are posted on the forum.

    Generally, members socialize afterward for a post-workout meal and drinks.

    Update 5/2/2017:  The estimated start date for Stroke & Stride 2017 is June 1, weather permitting.

    We have volunteers sign up to watch gear during swimming or running workouts on Sundays at Ohio Street Beach, and optionally spearhead a post-workout brunch if there’s interest.

    To volunteer for Gear Watch, add your name to a shift!  To attend the workout, check the sign up to be sure someone has volunteered for that day and be sure to bring your stuff to the club person before you start swimming.

    Please remember that OSB is very crowded on weekends over the summer, so only leave essential items with the gear watch volunteers.  If you ride your bike to OSB, you’re responsible for locking it up; CTC volunteers will not be doing bike watch.
